TREZION SHORTER PRESS RELEASE

District Attorney Daniella M. Shorter announced the conviction of Trezion Shorter of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.


On July 17, 2024, Trezion Shorter appeared in Copiah County Circuit Court and pled guilty to the charge. Circuit Judge Tomika H. Irving sentenced Shorter to serve a term of eight (8) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with six (6) years suspended, two (2) years to serve, and five (5) years of Post Release Supervision. As a condition of his Post Release Supervision, Shorter was ordered to pay court costs in the amount of Four Hundred Twenty-Seven Dollars and 50/100 ($427.50), the District Attorney’s investigative fee in the amount of One Hundred Fifty Dollars and 00/100 ($150.00), a fine in the amount of Five Hundred Dollars and

00/100 ($500.00), and a fee of One Hundred Dollars and 00/100 ($100.00) to the Mississippi Crime Victim’s Compensation Fund.


Should this case have proceeded to trial, the prosecution would have shown that on

November 28, 2023, Copiah County Deputies were attempting to stop a reported stolen vehicle in the Crystal Springs area. The suspects jumped from the stolen vehicle on QT Lane and fled into a wooded area. Mr. Shorter was seen tossing a firearm and was apprehended after a brief foot chase. Mr. Shorter was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.
