CHARLOTTE SHEDD PRESS RELEASE

DA Daniella Shorter Office Seal

April 2, 2025

District Attorney Daniella Shorter Levy announces the conviction of CHARLOTTE SHEDD for the charge of Manslaughter-Culpable Negligence.

On April 1, 2025, 53-year-old Charlotte Shedd was found guilty by a Copiah County Jury for the death of 49-year-old Christina Lynn Howard. Defendant Shedd was sentenced to 10 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections by Copiah County Circuit Court Judge Tomika H. Irving who presided over the proceedings.

On March 3, 2022, at approximately 8:00 p.m. Charlotte Shedd hit and dragged Christina Lynn Howard with her 2012 Chevy Traverse moments after she exited Shedd’s vehicle. Ms. Howard died of her injuries while in route to University of Mississippi Medical Center. Days later, when questioned, Shedd alleged to police that she did not remember the incident as she suffered from seizures and had not been taking her seizure medication.

Charlotte Shedds insistence of getting behind the wheel in her alleged state was a gross and reckless disregard for the value of human life. These actions, and the like, will not be tolerated by the District Attorney’s Office. District Attorney Levy believes that it is the responsibility of her office to ensure that victims and their families receive the justice to which they are entitled.
