District Attorney Daniella M. Shorter announced the conviction of Anthony Gammage for the crime of possession of cocaine. As a result of this conviction, Anthony Gammage was sentenced by Judge Tomika H. Irving on July 22, 2024, to serve five (5) years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections with three (3) years suspended, two (2) years to serve, and two (2) years of Post Release Supervision. Additionally, he was ordered to pay court costs of $454.50, a $150 investigative fee to the District Attorney’s Office, and a $510 bond fee.
On January 6, 2023, Anthony Gammage was arrested in Copiah County when the
Mississippi Highway Patrol was conducting a safety checkpoint in Copiah County.
During this checkpoint, Gammage’s vehicle was legally searched by Trooper
William King because he smelled marijuana when he approached the vehicle and
the windows were let down. During this search, Gammage was found to be in
possession of 5.78 grams of cocaine. Therefore, Anthony Gammage pled guilty to
this charge, and he was sentenced accordingly.
